notes*: The Get Down The concept of “The Get Down” was originally inspired and commissioned by a hip-hop event in California known as Mighty 4. The Mighty 4 was established to preserve the four cornerstones of the hip-hop culture: Emcee-in’, DJ-in’, Graffiti, and B-boyin’/girlin’. During the creative process of this painting, I was dedicated to capturing the essence of these four elements that are at the core of the culture we know and live, hip-hop.
